Colorful Journal Page

I'm creating in my journal today!

I used a plastic card to put down a thin layer of gesso and allowed it to dry completely. Next I added color using daubers, sweepers, spray inks, mixed media ink, and stencils. I stayed in the blue and green family.  NOTE: I moved the stencil up to extend the height of the trees. I also used a paper towel to dab off extra color and then dab in other places.

I used the stencils and a baby wipe to gently rub out some of the color. TIP: you get this effect when you lay gesso down first.  I added background text and a lovely lady that I colored with pencils. I used texture stamps to add some interest.

For a final element on the page, I drew in a close up of a face.

Create in Color!

Watercoloring is one of my favorite ways to color - actually whatever I have in my hand is my favorite is my favorite at the time. hehehe

I used the palette method to color over the heat embossed image.  I scribbled color onto a palette, wet an first, and then dropped color in. I kept the areas wet so the colors would nicely blend.

Creating Texture Underwater

I really enjoy finding different ways to create texture with my supplies. I dig the way the water turned out in this little underwater scene - it almost looks like a photo.

For the background, I spritzed a small amount of water onto High Gloss Cardstock, dripped distress inks refills, and brayered very lightly. I then stamped in some underwater foliage at the bottom.  After the ink dried, I stamped again with darker green.

Colorful Clarity

Crafter's Companion now carries Clarity Stamp products! I'm so excited! I've been watching Barbara on Youtube for a couple years and have been inspired by her creativity.

The image is from Claritystamp Limited - Napa Valley Claritystamp Stamp & Stencil Set and is heat embossed onto Crafter's Companion Watercolour Cardstock. To add that beautiful watercolor look, I scribbled Spectrum Aqua Markers on a palette and painted with a water brush.  The background is a Decorative Stencil by Sheena - In The Forest colored in with Distress Ink Pad and a Sponge Dauber.  The sentiment is from Textures EZMount™ Stamp Set - Words of Wonder - Set 2.
