Watercolored Poppy

Today I'm highlighting poppies.

The rich, beautiful red was created with Spectrum Aqua Markers and Fireworks Sprays. I colored the aqua markers direct and spread the color with a water brush. I poured a little Fireworks Spray onto a palette and picked up color with the water brush and spread it in the middle of the pedals.

The background is a gelli print from my stash. To see how I make my gelli prints, click here.

Colorful Journal Page

I'm creating in my journal today!

I used a plastic card to put down a thin layer of gesso and allowed it to dry completely. Next I added color using daubers, sweepers, spray inks, mixed media ink, and stencils. I stayed in the blue and green family.  NOTE: I moved the stencil up to extend the height of the trees. I also used a paper towel to dab off extra color and then dab in other places.

I used the stencils and a baby wipe to gently rub out some of the color. TIP: you get this effect when you lay gesso down first.  I added background text and a lovely lady that I colored with pencils. I used texture stamps to add some interest.

For a final element on the page, I drew in a close up of a face.

LOVE YOU

Today Sara is on HSN sharing some more fabulous products from Crafter's Companion!   In my project for today, I'm sharing a design featuring Die'sire Create-A-Card Everyday Dies.

I sprayed a piece of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock with Fireworks Sprays pear tart, rosebud, grape jelly. I allowed it to dry completely before using it.

Next, I used Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock, my eBosser, and the Die'sire Create-A-Card A2 Card Size Die - Adore to make two A2 size cards, making sure I cut the second card on the opposite sideTIP: put a piece of wax paper in between the die and the cardstock. This makes it easy to get the tiny pieces out of the die.

I trimmed the sprayed piece 1/4" off the top and one side and then adhered the pieces to make a double fronted gate card.

The words are from Sentimentals EZMount Stamp Set - Friends and Family. To ink just the "you" part of the sentiment, I laid the rubber flat, applied tape around it, inked it up with an India Ink Black Pad, then removed the tape and laid the paper on top. I popped the small heart up with Double Sided Adhesive Foam Circles.

Sidewalk Cafe

This little colorful sidewalk cafe scene was fun to make!

I laid 8" x 6" Decorative Stencils by Sheena - Perspectives over a card from Scored Cards Pack of 10 (6" x 6") - Bright White, secured it in place with a low tack tape and spritzed with Fireworks Sprays cottage ivy, pear tart, dandelion, summer sky, danube blue, grape jelly.  I laid another card over the stencil to pick up the extra ink creating the inverse - two for one!

I turned the stencil over onto one of the scenes and spritzed Fireworks Sprays summer sky filling in the white spaces.

Next, I added a tree with 8" x 6" Decorative Stencils by Sheena - Summer Meadow and Fireworks Sprays cottage ivy. TIP: After spraying, dab with a paper towel to create variation in color.

I used a Sponge Dauber and Distress Ink Pad chipped sapphire to fill in color on the birds from the 8" x 6" Decorative Stencils by Sheena - Summer Meadow.

After I adhered the cafe set to the front of the card, I made it pop by tracing it with a Spectrum Aqua Marker navy.
