Water-colored Tree

I made this water-colored tree to feature the Die'sire Classiques - Spring/Summer Metal Dies - Four Seasons

I de-bossed into a piece of A2 size Crafter's Companion Watercolour Cardstock.

On the back side of the card, I rubbed white crayon over the raised outlines, creating a wax resist for water coloring. I scribbled Spectrum Aqua Markers Terracotta, Chocolate onto a palette and picked up color with a water brush, allowing the colors to dry.

Next, I added leaves - Spectrum Aqua Markers Bud Green, Evergreen, Navy. While they were still wet, I added more browns to the trunk allowing the colors to blend and create an artsy look.

I used the same colors in the ground area and blended them together with a wet brush. I used the in tip of all three colors to create random blades of grass, then blurred them with the water brush.  After it dried, I went back in with the thin tip of Bud Green and added some more, blending at the base.

TIPS:  Use a paper towel to clean your brush in between colors and wipe off excess water. Continue to add water and color until you are happy with it.

The sentiment is from Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy EZMount Stamp Set - True Colors stamped with an India ink pad. I edged the water colored layer with Spectrum Aqua Markers Black.

Sneak Peak of Die'sire Edge'Ables Dies

It's all about die cuts today!  One thing I love about using dies is that you can create a lovely card with lots of dimension in a short amount of time.  This card was super easy and fun to make.

First, I embossed the background using Sheena Douglass Embossing Folder 5" x 7" - Curly Swirly over Shimmering Cardstock rose pearl run through my eBosser. For the butterfly, I made a custom color blend with Spectrum Aqua Markers Sunflower, Blossom, Orange. I scribbled color onto a palette, spritzed with water and pulled a piece of Crafter's Companion Watercolour Cardstock through the color a few times.

Next, I die cut the remaining pieces from Shimmering Cardstock black pearl, white pearl. I dipped a few of the flowers into the color blend.

gently bent the butterfly's wings up and dabbed a small amount of Collall All Purpose Glue on his body.
