Seasons Greetings

Today is Christmas Eve and we are celebrating the birth of Jesus - enjoying family and friends and feeling thankful for all the joys and challenges of the year.

The main image is heat embossed on Crafter's Companion Watercolour Cardstock and colored with Spectrum Aqua Markers and Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils. The background was 'painted' with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Markers.  I used the palette technique for both - scribbled color on a palette and used a dampened brush to pick up and spread color.  To make clouds in the sky, I used a balled up paper towel to pull out color. A stencil brush came in handy to brush away tiny pieces of paper.

One More Summer Card....

I'm just not ready to let summer go. :) I needed a little bit more flowers and butterflies.

I stamped and embossed over gelli print designs from my stash. I really dig the Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils over the prints - they cover so nicely and give a "painterly" look for just the right pop of color. Click here to see how I make my gelli prints.  In the darker areas, I laid down a layer of 001, then put color on top.

These three little cuties are from the Halloween EZMount™ Stamp Set - Trick or Treating

The images are stamped onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock. I colored the little trick-or-treaters' with Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored PencilsSpectrum Noir Paper Stumps, and Spectrum Noir Blending Solution.  For their skin, I used Spectrum Noir Markers as my first layer, then used the pencils for the shading.  The background is a gelli print from my stash. Coloring Your Own Drawings with Spectrum Noir

Spectrum Noir Markers are not just for stamping. I like to use them in my original artwork.

I have been hooked on faces and am having a ball sketching features. I started this piece by adding a soft background with with the eBrush System and Spectrum Noir Marker FS2 onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock. I drew a rough sketch of a face.

I laid down pencil, then blended the pencil with the alcohol markers. I just kept playing with color - using the chisel tip for blending large areas - until I was happy with the results. To me, this technique creates an painterly, artsy look - which I really dig!  This was a lot of fun because I could easily blend over any booboos I made. :o)

The flower in her hair is from Sheena's Floral Fantasy EZMount Stamp Set - Wild Rose & Hibiscus.
