Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes with Buttons

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

Today Crafter's Companion is sponsoring the Wednesday Simon Says Stamps Challenge.  The challenge theme this week is Anything Goes with Buttons. I must admit that I have bought a lot of buttons over time - many colors, shapes, and sizes, but I hardly use them. I was excited about this challenge because it made me look through my stash. :)  Here's my design:

I stamped the image from Popcorn the Bear EZMount Stamp Set - Birthday Hugs twice, once on Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock with a Memento tuxedo black ink pad and once on the design paper with a Memento Luxe Ink Pad - Tuxedo Black. With the glitter and raised areas on the design paper, I found the rich, luscious Luxe stamped a full image.

Next, I colored the bear with  Spectrum Noir Markers.  I used a combination of direct coloring to the cardstock and pallet coloring - scribble color onto an acrylic block and pick up with a lighter color. As you lay the color on the cardstock, a natural blending occurs. G2, G5, GG6, G7, G10.

I allowed the ink to dry and then used a piece of wash cloth spritzed with alcohol to dab in texture. I also added a little shading around his nose with BG1.

I colored the rest of the image.
TIP: In small areas, dot in color lightly.
I cut out the present from the design paper and adhered it onto the base with a liquid adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the set.

duck: CT1, CT2, CT4, OR1
bow: PP1, PP2, PP4, PP5, BP2
tag & string: Blender, IG1, CG1

I chose matching colors from my button stash and found some embroidery floss way in the back of a drawer.  I did not have a matching floss color for the green button, so I colored with CG1 to match.

Now it's your turn! There are lots of chances to win!! Look at your buttons stash and create something NEW!

Crafter's Companion Challenge - Baby

This month's Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog theme is Baby.  I'm featuring an image from Popcorn the Bear - A Gift for You.

I stamped the image onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock and onto Pearlescent multi-colored Paper Pack. I knew I wanted to paper piece the present with this cool pearlescent pink sheet.

I colored them with my Spectrum Noir Markers. Starting with the bear, I used colors GB1, GB6 and GB9I used a combination of direct coloring to the cardstock and also pallet coloring - scribble color onto an acrylic block and pick up with a lighter color. As you lay the color on the cardstock, a natural blending occurs. After I colored him, I allowed him to dry.  I spritzed a piece of fabric with alcohol, laid it over the the colored area and pressed it gently.

Next, I added a little color to the baby's present, using BP1 and BP4. I used  CR1 for the shading.

Added color to the cute little duck with CT1, CT4, GB6, and OR1 and cut out the present. For any areas I trimmed a little too much, I widened the line with a black marker and colored a little pink - so it would not be so obvious. :o)  I used  Collall's Tacky-Glue to adhere the heart wrapping paper.

After coloring in a ground with IG1, I cut out the image and popped it up with Double Sided Adhesive Foam Circles

I hand wrote the little welcome on the  gift tag.

I'm Hooked on You!

Happy Tuesday!! In this adventure Fishing Popcorn is hanging out at the lake letting his love know that he is hooked on her. Here's what I did to make this little scene.
  1. Stamped fishing bear image onto watercolor paper.
  2. Scribbled markers onto piece of plastic. Picked up color with water brush and painted image. After he dried. I cut him out.
  3. I hand drew the dock onto watercolor paper, allowing for a boarder. I drew with pencil first and then went over it with a black permanent pen. I then erased the pencil lines.
  4. I used a metal ruler and craft knife to cute out the inside of my frame, around the dock.
  5. I used the markers direct to the rubber stamp and added fish randomly around the whole frame.
  6. For the background, I used a circle mask and straight line mask. I covered the lower part of the background across half of the circle for the sunset and used the coloring method as in step 2 to paint the sky. I used a wide tip water brush and stroked horizontal, skipping spaces to give the illusion of clouds. Allowed the top to dry.
  7. Next, I masked the top and painted in the water, using the same horizontal stoke. Allowed it to dry completely.
  8. I painted the dock while the background was drying.
  9. I then painted in the sun and sun's reflection in the water.
  10. Next, I stamped the fish and painted in a little color.
  11. Stamped the sentiment and drew in some little water ripples around the dock.
  12. Adhered the little scene onto the background. Adhered fishing bear and drew in his fishing line.
  13. I carried the theme forward on the inside of the card. TIP: If you use only a small amount of water and a heavier card stock, you can water color on regular card stock.
  14. Adhere the background to the base card and it's ready!
