Art Impressions Challenge - Use Newspaper

This week's Art Impressions Blog challenge is use newspaper.  I'm featuring this adorable raccoon from the Furries TF (Sku#4208) set. I dig his expression!  I made the sentiment on my computer - it just fit.

I've been watching YouTube videos on collages and layering design papers - why not newspaper?! :o)  I ripped newspaper into a bunch of different size pieces and overlapped them onto an A2 size piece of cardstock.

While it was drying, I colored  this cutie pie raccoon with my Spectrum Noir Markers. For tips on coloring with Spectrum Noir Markers, visit the Spectrum Noir Blog.

After my background layer dried, I trimmed it down to fit the base card. I used a white gel pen to brighten his eyes and give highlight to his tail.

Happy Puppy

Hello Ai Fans! You can tell this little puppy is just as happy as can be!

The background shows all the things he is happy about. :o)  Lots of colorful friends, cool houses, fire hydrants, bones, and love - what more does a puppy need?  I picked out my design papers before I colored - this is the best way to ensure your finished project is color coordinated. Usually I color first, then dig and dig through my paper stash to find a match. :o) I stamped the Dachshund (Sku#D973) onto Cryogen.

Next I colored him to match his background paper - who says dachshunds can only be brown and black?! :o)

On the inside I stamped Doesn t get better (Sku#E2805) and added some design paper.  Ai Zoo images are living the life!

A Colorful Poinsettia

Hello Beautiful Crafter's Companion Buds!  If you've been reading my posts, you know that I love different Spectrum Noir techniques. In this post, I'm sharing a tutorial on how to use Spectrum Noir ink refills to create a quick greeting card that you can easily mass produce for your Christmas list.

To start with, I chose CR4, CR8, DR3 for the colors of the poinsettia. Next,  I liberally spritzed a piece of semi glossy cardstock with 91% rubbing alcohol then dropped in color. The ink refills come with dropper caps which makes this technique so easy. I blew the color around with a straw until I was happy with it. NOTE: If it dries before you are happy with it, spritz with alcohol again. I set it aside to dry completely.

I then stamped the Stamp-It Holiday Collection EZMount Stamp - Poinsettia image three times with a metallic gold ink pad, sprinkled gold embossing powder and heat set. Usually, I use clear embossing powder with alcohol inks, but since, the alcohol ink is already down, I can use anything on top that I find works for the results I want.  Be careful not to hold the heat gun on one area for too long. Don't worry about any imperfections, you can layout your design to cover them. :o) I cut out each poinsettia and also embossed a full sheet of Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock for Alcohol Markers with my eBosser for my background layer. I like the ability to emboss a whole sheet - I can cut it into four A2 size layers, or use it for different size projects.  Click here to see the easy instructions by Jennie.

For the inside of the card, I used the Stamp-It Holiday Collection EZMount Stamp - Love Joy Peace sentiment.

Living Life Out Loud

Hi Ai Fans!! One of the reasons I'm attracted to Art Impressions images is how expressive Bonnie makes them! I just love this pig's attitude. She makes me think she is living life out loud - I know, I know it's a pig. :o)

I stamped Dancing Pig (Sku#T1185) two times, once on Cryogen and once on design paper, so I could paper piece her tutu.   I stamped the barn image of  Harvest TF (Sku#4205) on a piece Cryogen cardstock for the background.

I masked areas and used Distress Inks to quickly fill in color for the ground and sky.

I colored the the pig and the rest of the scene.

I used dimensional adhesive dots to pop up the pig.

On the inside I added the sentiment  Doesn t get better (Sku#E2805) and a strip of design paper.

This little dancing pig has so much energy - I can just feel her living out loud!
