I love challenges! They make me step out of my comfort zone and try something new and different. This week's Art Impressions Blog challenge is quilling - something I have never done.
Since I have never tried quilling, I went to one of my favorite teaching sources - youtube. :o) There I found this helpful quilling video. I started with my image, this cute Great Dane (Sku#F978). He wants to wish someone a very special Block Birthday (Sku#G669). I colored him with Copics markers and then cut very thin strips of design paper from my stash.
Following the video, I swirled the thin pieces of paper around a large needle and glued the ends with a liquid glue. Next I drew in my lines for the balloon strings and colored in a ground for him to sit on.
I trimmed and adhered all the layers first and then glued the balloons on last. For the inside, I stamped the sentiment on the design paper and trimmed with a red (856) Tombow Dual Brush pen.
