Did you hear?! Crafter's Companion now carries dies! I have a lot to share today.
For my first design, highlighting the Die'sire Essentials Dies, I created two backgrounds - one for the sentiment and one for the actual background layer. For the sentiment layer, I scribbled Spectrum Noir Markers JG2, TB5, BT6 onto an acrylic block,
spritzed with alcohol,
and 'stamped' it onto a variety of cardstock/papers. I let the block sit there for a moment - I could actually see the color fill in.
As you can see, depending on the cardstock/paper, you will get different effects. I like them all! I guess, I'm just a background enthusiast! :)
I decided to use the High Gloss Cardstock. After it dried completely, I used an India ink pad to stamp a sentiment from Sentimentals EZMount Stamp Set - Love is all you need. I cut out the sentiment with Die'sire Essentials Squares.
For the background layer, I cut a scalloped square with the larger die from Die'sire Essentials Scalloped squares and used it as a template. First, I drew a light pencil line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner for a guide. I sponged color from Memento Ink Dew Drops cottage ivy, teal zeal, danube blue with Ink Sweepers in a pattern. After the ink dried, I erased the pencil line.
I used a Sharpie to draw the heart on a little shell I found in my stash drawer. I popped the shell up with Double Sided Adhesive Foam Circles.
For my next two designs, I'm featuring images from the new Sentenmenals releases and more dies.
The above card was made with the Ornate Set and the Elegance Frame. The image was stamped onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock, colored with Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils - 001, 073, 074, and cut out with the small die cut in the set.
I added 054 to the words to tone them down a bit. The background is a gelli print. I have a hug pile of gelli prints - once I get started making them, I don't know when to stop. Click here to see how I make my prints. I traced around the outside of the frame with a black artist pen to make it pop.
The next card features the Knit and Stitch set and the Die'sire Essentials Squares.
The images were stamped onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils - 018, 021, 024, 084, 114. I turned the die cut on an angle to cut out the thimble and thread to be in the shape of a diamond. I left the images in the die and used an Ink Sweeper and Distress Inks pads chipped sapphire, weather wood to give color to the edges and create a perfect white border.
I added some small buttons from my stash and used an artist pen to draw in faux thread.
The dies were run through my eBosser. NOTE: I used the magnetic plate for the detailed die cuts - you need that extra layer to get all that beautiful detail. I used a needle to poke out any little pieces that did not fall out.
